Sloan Master's Program

Leadership Studies

Students prepare for presentation

"The Stanford Sloan Program challenges your existing leadership assumptions. Whether it is the structured classroom approach, access to great leaders through top management speakers, exposure to great organizations on the study trips, or close relationships with future great leaders (your fellow participants), the program will broaden your perspective and strengthen who you are as a leader."

— Simon Boag, Sloan '00

The study of leadership is a very important component of the Sloan Program. In addition to reading and discussions in the Sloan leadership seminars, you will hear from leaders of major organizations about their personal experiences and views on what it means to be a leader. You will visit some of these men and women in their offices. Others will come to the Sloan classroom to meet you in an informal setting.

Speakers

Fellows have the opportunity to hear numerous other leaders who visit the GSB each quarter to address students, speak in classes, and take part in conferences.

Study Trips

There are three domestic and one international study trips which are a required part of the Program. There is a five-day trip to Washington, D.C. and New York during spring break. Other study trips include meetings with industry leaders in Portland, Seattle, and at leading Silicon Valley firms. The international study trip takes fellows to Asia, Latin America, or Europe after graduation. Participation in the international trip is required unless special arrangements are made with the Sloan Program director.
