Jorma Ollila
Chairman and CEO, Nokia

Jorma Ollila has held the position of chairman of the board and CEO since 1999. Ollila joined Nokia in 1985 as vice president, International Operations. From 1986 to 1989 he held the position of senior vice president, fnance. Also in 1986 he was appointed a member of the Group Executive Board. In 1990 he was named president, Nokia Mobile Phones. From 1992 to 1999 he held the position of president and chief executive officer. Since focusing on telecommunications in the early 1990's, Nokia has become the leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed and IP networks-related services as well as multimedia terminals.

Jorma Ollila holds board memberships of several companies, including the Ford Motor Company and UPM-Kymmene and is a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists. He was awarded Commander, 1st Class of the Order of the White Rose of Finland in 1996, The Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Officer's Cross, also in 1996, and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1997.

The University of Helsinki awarded Jorma Ollila a PhD (Pol.Sc.) h.c. degree and in 1998 the Helsinki University of Technology awarded him a DSc. (Tech.) h.c. degree. Jorma Ollila began his career with Citibank N.A., in London, being appointed a member of the Board of Management, Citibank, Finland, in 1983.
