As does every Sloan Fellow, I joined the program after a significant working experience. I am an engineer and have always felt strong in operations. My career was successful but, as I was exposed to marketing, sales, finance, and HR, I still felt an amateur outside my main field. I think about business as a big puzzle. My on-the-job experience provided me with only some of the pieces. The Sloan Program gave me the opportunity to add the many missing pieces and to correctly place the ones I had already.
The result is that the big picture makes really sense now. My perspective of business has changed significantly both in depth and in breadth, and with it my confidence has grown. The fundamentals of business that we studied during the first part of the program create a powerful platform on which to build as we select electives—in my case, strategy and finance—to achieve my personal goals. I fully achieved my objective by coming here.
