- Faculty Profile
I taught a pre-term course in Management Accounting to the incoming Sloan students last year. My interaction with the Sloan Fellows ranks among the very best teaching experiences I have ever had, in a career spanning 12 years and two schools, Wharton and Stanford. The atmosphere in class was relaxed and friendly; the Sloans are very supportive of one another, and are aware and respectful of the relative strengths of their colleagues. At the same time, their level of preparation was exemplary and, even in their first week of class, the Sloans had refined their model of "team production" to a science. All of this resulted in class sessions that were filled with lively discussions on a wide variety of topics, not all of which had to do with management accounting! Outside of the classroom, the Sloan Fellows are wonderful to talk toare mature, have very interesting backgrounds, and are pleasant to a fault. They are also very keen to maintain their relationships with the faculty. Even though I last taught them eight months ago, I still get invitations every week to one of the many Sloan parties and events. There is no doubt that the Sloan Fellows play at least as hard as they work!
