- Faculty Profile
There are many reasons to like teaching Sloans (as distinct from the general reasons for liking teaching). First, they are very savvy about management, having actually done it, and about organizations, having successfully functioned in them in a sustained way. This makes the discussions we have about these issues particularly rich and rewarding. Second, they have a serious technical and disciplinary preparation from earlier parts of the program, so the discussions are well grounded and the analysis incisive. Third, they have enough accumulated experience that they appreciate the value of a theory in organizing your understanding. Fourth, they are not torn between studying and job hunting and so are more focused and less up-tight than the MBAs often are. Finally, compared to the usual LPF, the music at Sloan parties is more to my taste (and not as loud) and the food and wine are better, which more than makes up for the bad beer!
