Family
This has been a wonderful year for our entire family. We have two daughters, ages nine and six, who really enjoy the wonderful school they are attending. They have easily made a number of good friends they will miss when the program is over. Personally, this year away from work has allowed me to grow closer to my family and appreciate the diligence my spouse has shown throughout her rigorous year. It will most certainly pay off for all of us.

Sloan Partner '02
The partners and families of the Sloan Fellows come from all over the world, and develop close friendships during their year at Stanford Business School.
The Sloan Program staff is readily available, together with the other resources of the University, to help new Sloan families settle in and build a vibrant community. The Partners identify group interests, and elect officers to organize a variety of activities and events for a memorable year.
Some partners also pursue their own education while in the Stanford area. Some study English as a second language through Stanford University's Bechtel International Center. A few may take other Stanford courses while others may enroll at nearby colleges or take classes offered through museums and community organizations.
Access to Stanford Events and Services
Sloan Fellows have full access to all Stanford services including libraries, athletic facilities, computing resources, and the Bechtel International Center, to name just a few. Partners of current students are also eligible for an ID card that gives them access to on-campus services. There are student discounts for many campus events.
Schools and Child Care
There are many public and private schools in the Stanford vicinity. Public schools in the United States are free to all children living within the school's attendance boundaries and most Stanford families find the local public schools quite satisfactory. For information on some nearby school districts see:

- Menlo Park School District

Health Care
The University's Vaden Health Center offers onsite health care to current Stanford students and their partners. Stanford University Hospital, a major research and teaching hospital, is also located on the campus.
Be aware that Sloan Fellows must purchase their own medical insurance to pay for any medical services needed. It is also important to note that insurance is not available for family members with pre-existing conditions. Sloan Fellows are strongly advised to ensure that they have adequate family health insurance coverage before arriving on campus.
