Title Tags

Why are title tags important?

Page titles are an important factor in determining search result relevancy; they are also displayed in the search result listing. The page title becomes the default bookmark name and should be named according to what users will most likely associate with the site when they are scanning through a bookmark list.

Put the most relevant description first to be most friendly for search result pages,

Page titles include 3 parts, separated by colons.

  • Page Title—the red H2 on your page
  • Subsite Name
  • Stanford GSB

Acronym Use

It is appropriate to use acronyms for the site name in the titles.
