Cofounder, former President & CEO, Sandisk Corporation; Technology Investor, Advisor, and Board Member

Sanjay Mehrotra became president and CEO of SanDisk effective January 2011 and served in this capacity until May 2016, when SanDisk was acquired by Western Digital Corporation. Mr. Mehrotra cofounded SanDisk in 1988 and was appointed president and COO in June 2006 and joined the company’s board of directors in July 2010. He previously served as EVP and COO, senior VP of engineering, VP of product development, and director of memory design and product engineering.

Mr. Mehrotra has more than 35 years of experience in the non-volatile semiconductor memory industry, including engineering and management positions at SanDisk, Integrated Device Technology Inc., SEEQ Technology Inc., Intel Corporation, and Atmel Corporation. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program (SEP).

Mr. Mehrotra holds over 70 patents and has published articles in the area of non-volatile memory design and flash memory systems. He currently serves on the board of directors of Western Digital, Cavium Networks, and H20.ai and on the engineering advisory board of the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Mehrotra is also an advisor to venture capital funds and is an investor focused primarily in the technology sector.
