Maria is the senior manager of financial planning at SFMOMA, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Since the Stanford MBA program, Maria has spent her career focusing on museum management doing projects for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Exploratorium in San Francisco before joining SFMOMA for its unprecedented expansion, where it scaled to twice its size overnight.
Before pursuing her MBA, Maria worked at the National Museum of Art in Mexico City, where she did both financial planning and analysis and was the director of the museum’s Patronato, the 501(c)3 that focuses on fundraising for the government-operated museum.
Maria will take a leading role in organizing her 5th year reunion and has served as a class agent since graduation. Aside from her involvement with the GSB, Maria serves on the board of NOMA A.C., a Mexican nonprofit focused on improving educational performance through gaming and technology.
Maria lives in San Francisco and goes to Mexico City often to visit her father, Antonio, GSB MBA ’80, and Holda, her mother. She is passionate about SoulCycle and anything to do with Mexico, especially the Mexican National Soccer Team. Every year she organizes a trip with her girlfriends from the GSB and has attended over 20 of her GSB classmates’ weddings since graduation.
