Explore the different ways to feature or list people on pages.
Types of People
We have six content types that create profiles on the site for different types of people that we commonly feature on the site: Faculty, Staff, PhD Students, MSx Fellows, Alumni, and Coaches. We also publish Voices, which are both stories and profiles that capture a moment in time of a student or alumni’s experience.
We maintain a list of faculty profiles for all active faculty and lecturers in partnership with Academic Administration. The PhD Program maintains lists of job market candidates and academic placements. The MSx Program maintains a list of all current MSx students, and Stanford Seed maintains a list of their current coaches. Staff and alumni profiles are published only as needed for specific purposes, such as staff directories or a list of board members.
For Voices, we have a main list of all Stanford GSB Voices, as well as lists for different types of Voices: MBA Students, MBA Alumni, MSx Students, MSx & Sloan Alumni, PhD Students, Executive Education Participants, and Faculty.
You can link to these existing list pages, create direct links to filtered views of these lists, or create a list on your page that is filtered by relevant taxonomy, such as rank, academic area, center or initiative affiliation, industry, or region. Various features allow you to reference specific people by node, or enter information for people without a profile manually.
A content card references an existing person’s profile by name and displays default information about that person. It requires no customization — if needed, there is a customizable label at the top.
You can either add a single content card to a page, or add multiple content cards to a content group. In the next content group, you will see an example of each type of person as a content card.
Person Type Comparison
Some members of the Stanford GSB community have multiple profiles, either because we have written a Voices story about them or because they have different affiliations with the school as faculty and/or staff and/or alumni. Depending on the profile you choose to feature, you will see different default information.
Featured content is highly customizable and the same feature can produce many different configurations. For people, you can use it to recreate a content card–style featured person for someone who does not have a profile on the site, or to customize a person’s title or description in a way that is more relevant to your page.
You can also use it to create other styles for featuring people, such as “spotlights” with testimonials and quotes.
