GMAT and GRE

Either the Graduate Management Admission Test or the Graduate Record Examination is required for admission. We have no preference for one test over the other.

Reporting Your Score

If you took the test online, you will receive an unofficial score upon completion. Report that score on your application. Note that your unofficial GMAT score will not include the Analytical Writing or Integrated Reasoning scores. You may leave those application fields blank.

Minimum Score Requirement

While there is no minimum score required by the Stanford MSx Program, admitted candidates typically perform well. The median GMAT score for the Class of 2019 was 700.

Score Validity

GMAT and GRE scores are valid for five years. Since we require the GMAT or GRE for admission, you must take the test before submitting your application. The scores you submit must be valid as of the deadline date of the round in which you apply. If your GMAT or GRE score is still valid, you do not need to take the Next Generation GMAT or GRE General Test (formerly the GRE revised General Test). If you require testing accommodations, we recommend initiating that process well in advance so they may review your request in time for you to take the test before the deadline for the round in which you wish to apply.
