Frederick has served in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for 18 years. He is an Armour Officer by training and has commanded at the brigade level. His time in the SAF has given him experience in leading organizational change, capability development, operations, and policy formulation. In 2007, Frederick was seconded to the Ministry of Finance, where he headed the International Relations department and oversaw Singapore’s bilateral and multilateral financial arrangements during the height of the global financial crisis. He played a pivotal role in organizing Singapore’s Golden Jubilee National Day Parade in 2015, overseeing the national engagement efforts, the celebrations around the Marina Bay area which attracted over 250,000 people, and the mobile column display involving over 200 military vehicles and platforms. Frederick is a recipient of the 2016 Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship, which marks Singapore's continuous effort to recognize outstanding individuals with the aptitude and inclination to contribute to the society.
