Karan has a decade of experience spanning finance, business development, and strategy in the public and private sectors. Most recently, he led the conceptualization, strategy, and implementation of the US $6 billion Startup India initiative for the government of India, pioneering vernacular support platforms, policies, funding mechanisms, and grassroots programs benefiting 500,000-plus entrepreneurs. Previously, Karan was instrumental in launching a subsidiary of Asia’s largest low-cost airline, AirAsia India. There, he implemented a market entry strategy that led to a gross profit breakeven in less than two years. Karan also spent several years as an investment banker, completing cross-border mergers and acquisitions worth US $2 billion in the oil and gas, real estate, and aerospace sectors.
