Somesh is a business executive with an expertise in strategy, marketing, and sales. He possesses a keen understanding of B2B enterprise, IT business strategy, and the impact of sales and marketing to customers on improving outcomes. As head of marketing at Oracle Corp., India, for 15 years, Somesh helped to generate $100 million annually in closed new sales through marketing-generated opportunities. Somesh also worked for Microsoft Corp. for five years in roles that spanned sales, marketing, customer services, and product support.
Somesh’s experience working for world-class, global-scale organizations, coupled with his educational background in management and engineering, has helped him to create compelling business propositions for his customers, leading them to make multimillion-dollar investments to improve their business success. What’s more, Somesh has obtained substantial insight into many business areas, industries, and technologies.
Throughout his 30-year career, a key belief for Somesh has been that businesses need to go beyond economic objectives and make a substantial social and environmental impact for good. He is looking forward to continuing work on this in greater depth.
Somesh currently spends his time on his consulting practice in business strategy, sales, and marketing, by engaging in philanthropic work including as a Stanford Seed Coach and Stanford Seed Consultant, and by blogging and golf and yoga.
Somesh earned an MBA/postgraduate diploma in management from India Institute of Management in Calcutta and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Delhi University.
