Don has worked with his coaching clients on a variety of leadership development and business optimization projects, including transformation plan implementation, corporate and family governance, succession planning and financing.

Don came to Seed following a successful career in Silicon Valley as an executive and serial entrepreneur. He is known as a hands-on leader, manager and team builder in technology-based businesses focused on end-users, from startups to established companies. He has led and helped build companies in a variety of industries, including consumer products and services, television production equipment and systems, telecommunications test equipment, new media and medical devices. He has extensive functional experience in business development, IP strategy and licensing, marketing, finance and fundraising.

Don most recently served as CEO of Compact Imaging (CI), a medical device startup (Mission: Reduce the burden of disease on those most affected). At CI, Don led the formation of strategic partnerships with industry leaders and had considerable fundraising success with angel investors in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Previously, Don was CEO at Command Audio, a new media company he cofounded in 1995.  Under his leadership, the company created and launched to mobile consumers an entirely new audio-on-demand information and entertainment service (Mission: What you want, when and where you want it). The company raised over $85 million from venture and strategic investors. Ultimately, Don led the successful effort to license the company’s technology to industry-leading content, transmission and manufacturing companies.

Don served for several years in leadership positions on the boards of Castilleja School and Community Housing/Lytton Gardens, both in Palo Alto. In 2005 he served as an international election monitor with the National Endowment for Democracy in the first post-civil war elections in Liberia. Don and his wife, Linda, live on the peninsula south of San Francisco and have a daughter, who lives in London. He’s an enthusiastic cook and an avid hiker and backpacker.
