How do I update my contact information in my alumni profile, including my preferred e-mail address and mailing address?

Please see the instructions below to add or update any of the following: your name, home address, business information, uploaded resume, photo, e-mail addresses, relationships, Stanford GSB social class year, academic information from other institutions, student activities and residences, diversity classification, interests, languages, areas of expertise or online password.

Please note that you will not be able to update your Stanford degree information online. If you find an error in your degree information, please contact Online Customer Service.

Step-by-Step Solution

1. First, please log in to your Stanford GSB Alumni Network account. If you are unable to log in, please visit our help with the site login.

2. Select ‘My Profile’ under My Account in the left navigation.

3. Update your contact information by clicking the relevant tab (i.e. Personal, Professional, Education, Student Activities, Interests/Skills, Diversity, Password). Each tab is composed of various related sections. For example, the Personal tab consists of the Name, Personal Profile, Family Information and Account Information sections.

5. To edit a specific section on a selected tab, click on the corresponding red Edit button. If information has not been added yet to the section, you can click on the corresponding Add button.

6. Once you have added or modified your information, be sure to save it by clicking on the Save button at the bottom of the section. Cancel will not save any additions/modifications.

7. To configure which information displays to fellow alumni, friends or groups and which does not, click the “Privacy Preferences” link. You can access the link at the top of the page as well as on the left navigation bar under My Profile.

8. The Privacy Settings page allows you to set your profile settings as well as activities. For profile settings, you have the option to set privacy globally, by section or by specific type of information.

9. To edit Profile Privacy, click on the appropriate Edit button. To edit Activity Privacy, click on the Activity Privacy tab. Select the appropriate audience for the specific type of activity.

10. Remember to click on the Save button at the bottom of each page to save any changes made. Cancel my changes will not save any modifications made.

Tips

  • You can preview the changes you made by clicking on the Preview my profile button in the upper right hand corner. You will also be able to see your profile as others see it to verify your privacy settings.
How do I remove certain information (add privacy) to my profile?

Your My Profile page allows you to set privacy globally, by specific profile section or by a specific information field. In addition, you can set privacy for various online activities.

My Stanford degree information is incorrect in my alumni profile, but I cannot update it. How can I fix it?

Certain profile fields cannot be updated by you online. One type is your Stanford degree information. If you find an error in this information, please see below.

What You Will Need

  • Your valid username and password if you wish to change your social class year only.

Step-by-Step Solution

If you find an error in your Stanford degree information, please contact the Stanford Records Office: (650) 725-4336.

Your requested changes will be transmitted to the University Registrar for verification, and pending the outcome of this step may be changed in our central alumni database by our staff. The data would then migrate to the online Alumni Directory, and the change would then be visible in your Profile. This process could take up to 4-5 business days.

However, you can modify your social class year. To modify your social class year,

1. First, please log in to your Stanford GSB Alumni Network account. If you are unable to log in, please visit our help with the site login.

2. Select ‘My Profile’ under My Account in the left navigation.

3.Click on the Education tab.

4. Click on the Edit button in the Stanford Degrees section.

5. Modify the social class year as needed.

6. Click on the Save button to save your changes. Cancel will not save any of your changes.

Tips

  • You are free to update any degrees you have received from other institutions in your Profile. To edit that information, click on the Edit button in the Other Degrees section under the Education tab. Remember to click on Save to save your changes.
How can I see how my profile appears to others?

Use Profile My Preview to see how your profile appears to different groups of people according to the privacy settings you have specified. Please note that privacy on the alumni site has changed. Your privacy is not determined by which Directory someone uses to view your information (i.e. SAA Directory, GSB Directory, etc.), but rather how you know the person viewing your information.

2. Hover your mouse over the my Stanford tab and select My Profile.

3. Click on the Preview my profile button in the upper right hand corner.

4. There will be a drop-down menu called See how the following group sees your profile.

5. The number of groups listed is dependent upon your group affiliations.

6. Select the desired group to see how that group will view your profile.

Family member information listed in my alumni profile is no longer correct, but I cannot update it. How can I fix it?
