Bio
Kim Caldbeck is a former CMO turned strategic startup advisor and board member with deep expertise in scaling mission-driven B2B and B2C companies in edtech and digital health.
In her advisory work, Kim partners with founders and executive teams to define core business strategies, achieve product-market fit, build high-performing teams, craft brand and growth strategies, and drive AI transformation. She has provided Fractional CMO and advisory support to companies, including Podium Education, CoPilotIQ, Wave Neuro, Outschool, ClassDojo, Labster, Ascent, Higher Ground, HealthSherpa, Sessions College, Empowerly, and Vumedi, and serves as an operating advisor to Bessemer Venture Partners and IVP portfolio companies. She currently serves on the boards of Interplay Learning (2.5 years) and Teague (2 years).
Before focusing on advising, Kim was Chief Marketing Officer at Coursera, where she led the company’s growth from $95M to over $500M in revenue, scaled the marketing team from 5 to 250+ globally, and expanded international reach to more than 80% of users outside the U.S. She played a pivotal role in defining Coursera’s brand, launching enterprise and degree programs, pioneering a freemium acquisition model, and supporting the company through its IPO.
Earlier in her career, Kim held senior roles at Facebook and Apple, leading global product and brand marketing campaigns, and worked in brand strategy consulting at Landor and Daymon Worldwide. She holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
