In recent years a number of papers have attempted to use new concepts or methodologies to study the service consumer. Drawing from sociology, social psychology and environmental psychology these new approaches can supplement the insights attained by more normal methods. This paper reviews a number of these concepts and methodologies and considers the strength and weakness of each.
