The results of a study of the relationship between users and the information services department in seven companies are presented. Predicted associations between favorable user attitudes and other variables were tested with data collected from questionnaires and interviews. A tentative model is presented which helps demonstrate how the relationship between users and the information services department can be improved. The implications of the results for management, users, and the information services department are discussed.
