Beth Cobert is a director (senior partner) in McKinsey’s San Francisco office. She joined the firm in 1984 in New York and transferred to San Francisco in 1994.

Ms. Cobert’s primary client work has been in financial services, health care, and the social sector.  She has worked with a range of private-, public-, and social-sector clients on growth and performance improvement programs, with an emphasis on sales/marketing, strategy, and organizational issues.

Ms. Cobert serves as a core member of the leadership group of McKinsey’s financial  services and social-sector practices. She is a global leader at McKinsey’s marketing and sales practice. Ms. Cobert also has oversight for McKinsey’s efforts to build deeper functional capabilities (e.g., in marketing/sales, operations, risk management) among the consulting staff worldwide.

Ms. Cobert serves as the board chair for the United Way of the Bay Area and is a leader of its newly formed women’s leadership council. She has been involved in multiple other organizations in the Bay Area, including the San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Chamber  of  Commerce.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Ms. Cobert worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. in their corporate finance department. She received her MBA in 1984 from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar (top 10%). She also holds a BA in economics, Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude, from Princeton University.
