Inside Scoop - Fall 2010

The GSB welcomed 50+ employers on October 6 for the MBA2 Company Networking Night. Students appreciated the opportunity to meet with the participants and gave us feedback that they especially enjoyed speaking about daily job responsibilities with hands-on managers.

From conversations with these employers and many others we visited in Los Angeles recently at the NBMBAA Career Expo, we are pleased that the hiring climate for MBAs is more optimistic this recruiting season. A number of employers we spoke with have increased hiring needs due to reducing their work force in the past two years.

The GSB greatly appreciates the partnership with these organizations and others that engage with the GSB by posting to the Job Board, partnering with student clubs, participating in On-Campus Recruiting, and staying in touch to communicate their future hiring needs.

Second-year students have returned to campus with enthusiasm for their classes and deeper understanding of their industry and functional focus after summer internships. Although we don’t have hard data yet, anecdotally we are hearing from a high number of second years and employers that a strong number of full-time offers were extended after summer internships.

There is still space to participate in the MBA1 Company Networking Nights in November to increase your visibility and network with students before resume drops for internship interviews in winter quarter. We are also planning new opportunities for employers to engage with Stanford students in the spring as additional hiring needs are identified. Please contact us so we can work with you to develop a customized strategy that will resonate with Stanford GSB students.
