Frequently Asked Questions

Application Requirements

Do I need the MBA or other graduate degree?

No. A bachelor's degree or its equivalent, representing a four-year course of study from an accredited college or university, is required for admission. Although not required, some applicants have earned a master's degree in fields such as economics, engineering, mathematics, psychology, sociology, and statistics.

Does the GSB require any specific coursework?

No. However, the Program encourages all applicants to include the following math courses: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Mathematical Statistics. All fields except Organizational Behavior and Marketing also require coursework in analysis, probability, and optimization. The program is especially well-suited to students who have previously studied engineering, natural sciences, or social sciences (such as economics, political science, psychology and sociology).

Must I send all supporting transcripts together to Stanford, or can I send transcripts separately?

Do not mail an Official Transcript.  We request an Official Transcript only after Admission, and will notify you.  In your online application you must upload transcript(s) from each university you have attended for one full academic year (two academic semesters, three quarters or trimesters) or more, regardless of the number of credits received.
