Caltrain is your most convenient public transportation to reach Stanford from either San Francisco or San Jose. The Marguerite bus system provides free transportation from the Cal train station to the campus.
* A one-way trip from San Francisco takes approximately one hour and costs about $5.75; a one-way trip from San Jose takes approximately 40 minutes and costs about $4.00. Caltrain also connects with stations and shuttles serving the San Francisco and San Jose International Airports.

The Stanford Marguerite Shuttle, the University’s free shuttle bus, operates several routes.
- The main shuttle lines traverse the campus Mon - Fri all year (except University holidays)
- Evening and weekend service from Sept - June with the Midnight Express and Shopping Express lines
- All buses are wheelchair-accessible & have bike racks
- Marguerite is free and open to the public - no ID required
Stanford University Visitors
At the Stanford Graduate School of Business, classes, events, and resources of Stanford University are referred to as being “across the street.” The Business School is located near the campus’ famous landscaped oval and separated from the historic Main Quad by Serra Street.
