Founding Partner, Alatus Capital

Antoine Firmenich is a founding partner along with Richard Vogel of Alatus Capital, a European-based value investment management firm, created to coordinate investments in public markets. The firm’s flagship fund, the Aquilus Inflection Fund, uses a proprietary FCF-based framework to invest in Europe-headquartered companies that are global leaders in their own niches. At the request of a number of global institutions and leading multigenerational business families wishing to gain deeper insights to Europe, the fund opened and has thus been privileged to work for many years with a number of preeminent global foundations and investors.

Dr. Firmenich also serves as the chairman of Sentarom SA, the controlling holding of the Firmenich group of companies. Firmenich International, founded in 1895, is the world’s largest family-owned flavors and fragrance company with offices in more than 64 countries. It is estimated that the company’s products come in contact with more than 2 billion consumers everyday. In 2011, the company was the recipient of the prestigious IMD-LO Global Family Business Award, the international jury having chosen to reward the company’s relentless focus on innovation, sustainable growth, and good corporate governance.

Dr. Firmenich is a 1996 graduate of Stanford Graduate School of Business and a 1994 graduate of Stanford School of Medicine, where he received a PhD in biochemistry under Nobel laureate Dr. Paul Berg and with a fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Firmenich is a 1988 alumnus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was Scholastic All-American, John Asinari Award winner, and elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi.

Dr. Firmenich serves and has served on a number of corporate boards. He is a passionate supporter of several organizations that support children, sustainability, education, and the arts.
