Ken Hersh is a cofounder and the CEO of NGP Energy Capital Management, a premier investment franchise in the natural resources industry. Founded in 1988, NGP manages over $9.5 billion of committed capital and is comprised of Natural Gas Partners, NGP Capital Resources Company (NASDAQ: NGPC), NGP Energy Technology Partners, NGP Midstream & Resources and NGP Global Adaptation Partners. Mr. Hersh is responsible for directing the strategic and investment activities of the firm.

Under his leadership, NGP has made investments in more than 200 natural resources companies located throughout North America. In addition, the firm has been the catalyst for some of the larger recapitalizations and merger transactions in the sector. NGP has been a leader in structuring and negotiating transactions totaling over $25 billion. Under his stewardship, NGP has achieved a 23-year gross IRR in excess of 30% compounded, making it one of the nation’s top investment firms.

Mr. Hersh currently serves as a director of NGPC Memorial Production Partners and Samson Investment Company.  Previously, he served as a director of number of public companies, including Energy Transfer Partners, Energy Transfer Equity, Pioneer Natural Resources, Encore Acquisition Company and Eagle Rock Energy Partners. He currently serves on the dean’s council of the Harvard Kennedy School and on the advisory council of the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University. He is a frequent lecturer at industry functions covering topics relating to energy, corporate finance, and private-equity sectors and has been a frequent contributor on CNBC.                                                                                                                                                                                    

Mr. Hersh is a member of the World Economic Forum, where he has been a featured speaker at its annual meeting held in Davos, Switzerland. He also serves on the International Business Council's G20 CEO Task Force on Commodities in conjunction with the International Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to co-founding NGP, Mr. Hersh was employed by the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Company, where he was a member of the energy group specializing in oil and gas financing and merger and acquisition transactions.

Mr. Hersh was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Princeton University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a BA in politics in 1985. In 1989, he earned his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Mr. Hersh and his wife, Julie, have two children and reside in Dallas, Texas, where they serve on numerous educational and civic boards of directors.
