George Matelich is a managing director of Kelso & Company, one of the oldest firms specializing in private equity investing.  Since 1980, Kelso has invested in over 100 companies with total capitalization of more than $35 billion and currently has investments in over 20 companies.  The firm has recently raised a $5.1 billion eighth investment partnership and Kelso’s investment professionals are the largest investor in the firm’s three most recent investment partnerships.

Mr. Matelich joined Kelso in 1985.  He spent the preceding two years in the mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance departments at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb.  He earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1982.  He spent the previous two years as a consultant with Ernst & Ernst.  He received a BA in business administration, summa cum
laude
, from the University of Puget Sound in 1978.  He is a certified public accountant and holds a certificate in management accounting. 

Mr. Matelich is currently a director of CVR Energy Inc., CVR GP LLC, Global Geophysical Services Inc., and Hunt Marcellus LLC. He also is a trustee of the University of Puget Sound and a director of the American Prairie Foundation. Other past directorships include Americold Corporation, Charter Communications Inc., FairPoint Communications Inc., Federal-Hoffman Inc., Harris Specialty Chemicals Inc., King Broadcasting Company, Masland Industries Inc., Optigas Inc., Shelter Bay Energy Inc., and Waste Services Inc.

Mr. Matelich resides in Larchmont, New York, with his wife, Susan and youngest son, George.  Their two older children, Wesley and Grace, are students at Vanderbilt University.  Mr. Matelich enjoys fly fishing and hiking on their ranch in Montana.
