Mike McCaffery formally joined Makena Capital Management in June 2006. Prior to forming Makena Capital, Mr. McCaffery was the president and CEO of the Stanford Management Company, which he joined in 2000.
Previously, Mr. McCaffery was chairman and CEO of the investment bank of Robertson Stephens & Company, which he joined in 1988 as director of investment banking. Prior to Robertson Stephens, Mr. McCaffery was with Morgan Stanley and Company.
Mr. McCaffery is a director of KB Homes, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital, Western Technology Ventures, and Thomas Weisel Partners. He is a member of the advisory board of RS Investments, a member of the advisory council of Princeton University's Bendheim Institute of Finance, and a member of the steering committee for Stanford University's current capital campaign. Mr. McCaffery was a member of the GSB Advisory Council from 1995 to 2005.
Mr. McCaffery graduated with a BA from Princeton University and, as a Rhodes Scholar, attended Merton College at Oxford University, where he earned a BA Honors and an MA. Mr. McCaffery also has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
