Paul A. Ormond

Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
HCR Manor Care Inc.

Paul Ormond is chairman of the board, president, and CEO of HCR Manor Care Inc.,
the largest owner and operator of post-acute rehabilitation long-term care centers in
the United States, with a network of more than 550 skilled nursing centers, assisted
living facilities, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, hospice and home care agencies, and
approximately 60,000 employees.

Mr. Ormond has been president of HCR Manor Care, and its predecessor companies, for
more than 22 years. He was the founder of the company, and he led the initial public
offering for the company in 1991, as well as taking the company private with the Carlyle
Group in 2007 in a $6.3 billion deal. HCR Manor Care was recently named for the second
year in a row by Fortune magazine as the most-admired health care provider company
in the country.

Mr. Ormond is a former member and chairman of the University of Toledo business
advisory board. He has been active in a number of charitable organizations, including
the Alzheimer’s Association, United Way, and various foundations. He also served as
a member of the board of a regional public television station.

Mr. Ormond received a BA with honors in economics from Stanford University in 1971
and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1973.

He is a member of the board of directors of National City Corporation and chairman of the
compensation committee.

Mr. Ormond and his wife, Sue, live in Toledo, Ohio. They have two sons.
