On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) Checklist
In preparing for OCR, we first recommend taking the time to plan your recruiting needs. Your Recruiting Relationship Manager would be glad to assist in developing your goals and strategy. We can also help by discussing your specific OCR and presentation options, student communication plans, and tips for writing an effective job description.
To help you get started, we have prepared a step-by-step OCR Checklist. If you have any questions, from setting goals to candidate follow-up, feel free to contact a Recruiting Relationship Manager.
Plan your OCR needs.
- Consider your hiring needs and resources.
- Review the latest employment report.
- Work with your CMC Recruiting Relationship Manager in setting your recruiting strategy, plans, and goals.
Consider your presentation options.
- Recruiter Day (RD)
- Company Networking Night (CNN)
- Other options
Read, review, and agree to the recruiter policies.
Distribute them to presenters, interviewers, and other members of your recruiting team.
Make a reservation for your on-campus interviews and company presentations on the CMC website.
Before you begin, you should have the following information on hand:
- Position title, function, and qualifications
- Position location
- Three choices of dates for OCR and interest level in Recruiter Day/ Company Networking Night events
- Number and type of schedule(s)
- Application instructions: CMC resume drop and/or directly to you
- Work authorization (visa) requirements
Review the confirmation emailed to you after you register. It will include your specific confirmed dates and deadlines.
- Be ready to review resumes dropped for the closed list.
- Develop your own internal timelines for the first- and second-round of interviews.
- Organizations must offer two dates for second-round interviews. We highly recommend you schedule these on non-class days. Wednesdays are a good choice since students generally do not have classes on this day.
- Before finalizing second-round interview dates, check with your Recruiting Relationship Manager for any major academic conflicts.
Increase your campus visibility.
- Contact relevant student clubs, academic centers, and major programs.
- An easy way to connect with Student Clubs is to view Student Club Sponsored Events.
- Here are some other useful resources to consider:
Submit your on- and off-campus recruiting events to the CMC for approval before finalizing and promoting your events.
- Events for second-year students when MBA2 classes begin. Events for first-year students can begin after the EAP has ended.
- Submit your proposed events by July 12 and we will review and respond by July 30. Dates submitted for review after July 12 will be considered on a rolling basis.
Upload your job description by the deadline noted on your Recruiter Dashboard.
Purchase a Resume Database to search for your top candidates.
For recruiting partners, the CMC publishes resume databases containing first- and second-year MBA resumes.
Submit your closed-list selections by the deadline noted on your Recruiter Dashboard.
Don't forget to market your presentation or event at least one week ahead of time.
Consider advertising in the student newspaper, contacting select student clubs, or targeting students through the Employer Communication Tool. You can also directly target high-potential candidates you have identified from the Resume Databases.
Develop a communication plan to follow up promptly with students throughout the recruiting process.
Timely and consistent communication enhances your programs effectiveness.
After the recruiting season, complete the CMC Recruiter Feedback Survey that will be emailed to you.
Your constructive and positive feedback helps us improve our programs each year.
