Faculty Research and Teaching

Cultivating a Community of Excellence

Outstanding people make the GSB a preeminent school of management. Our faculty members are renowned scholars whose work covers a wide breadth of management disciplines and whose scholarship drives our success and influences businesses and leaders throughout the world. Attracting the best faculty and providing them with resources to innovate are central to the School's commitment to excellence.

A number of GSB faculty are aligned with the School's four major research centers, which represent the cornerstones of a comprehensive general management education. The Centers provide focal points for teaching, research, case writing, student activities, executive education, and community outreach efforts in each of the four cornerstone areas—entrepreneurial studies, global business, leadership development, and social innovation.

Corporate support allows us to invest in faculty development while affording opportunities for companies to build relationships with faculty and students around common areas of interest through the Centers.

Opportunities to Support Faculty

Professorships
A company may establish an endowed professorship in its name or in the name of an individual it wishes to honor, and the chair exists in perpetuity. Professorship titles receive high visibility, including a plaque displayed in a prominent public space at the School and use of the named professorship title by the appointed faculty member. Professorships are the highest faculty honor the university bestows and are crucial to our ability to recruit top scholars.

Faculty Fellow and Scholar Awards
Faculty fellow awards honor tenured faculty while faculty scholar awards recognize the achievements of junior faculty. The award, which exists in perpetuity, can bear the donor's name and be directed to a particular field of interest. Each award receives high visibility through a plaque that is prominently displayed at the School and through the use of the named faculty award title by the appointed faculty member in GSB materials and publications.
