Congestion Pricing in the 21st Century, a one-day conference at Stanford on May 10, 2027, will bring together economists working on traffic congestion, market design, ride-hailing platforms, and autonomous vehicles with the practitioners who run pricing programs and regulate self-driving fleets in the United States and abroad. Research sessions will present new academic evidence and theory, while policy panels will ask practitioners who have worked in cities that already price congestion what prospects cities that are still considering congestion pricing might have, and how governments should manage the arrival of autonomous vehicles.
