Seung Joo Yoo

Hello! I’m Seung Joo, a first-year PhD student in Micro Organizational Behavior at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

I study the psychology of men and masculinities in organizations. Specifically, I examine how men experience and navigate their communality, and how these departures from masculine norms are perceived and evaluated in professional settings. I also investigate the fundamental categorization processes underlying these phenomena, and apply this cognitive perspective to understanding bias in Large Language Models (LLMs) used at work.

Methodologically, I integrate computational tools (e.g., NLP, LLMs) with traditional approaches (e.g., field surveys, experiments) to investigate these topics across individuals, teams, and organizations.

Research Interests

  • Men and Masculinities in Organizations
  • Categorization and Stereotyping
  • Bias in Large Language Models
  • Psychological Application of Natural Language Processing
