David Byrd Singer

Bio
Mr. Singer joined Maverick Ventures in 2004 and has led Maverick’s private investments since that time. Prior to Maverick, David was the founding CEO of three companies: Affymetrix; Corcept Therapeutics; and Genesoft Pharmaceuticals. Maverick invested in both Corcept Therapeutics and Genesoft Pharmaceuticals.
During his career, he has served on the boards of 24 private companies including seven that became public companies during his service. Among the boards he has or is serving include: Affymetrix, Castlight Health, Corcept Therapeutics, CoreValve, Coupang, Fresh Direct, OneMedical, Pacific BioSciences, LTK, Seer and Volta Labs.
Mr. Singer received a BA from Yale University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is Vice Chair of College Track and is a Lecturer at Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2023, Mr. Singer was included in Forbes’ Midas List of the world’s best venture capital investors. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Diana Kapp.
