Harold Zagunis, Seed Coach
Harold Zagunis is an accomplished business executive whose 40+ year career includes extensive experience in all aspects of growing dynamic, small- to mid-size businesses, including taking several companies public.
Zagunis’ focus has been on the financial operations of organizations. He has served as chief financial officer for public companies Redwood Trust (a real-estate investment trust), TPVG (a business development company providing venture lending to private companies), and other privately held companies. In addition to managing the financial aspects of companies, such as capital raising, investor relations, budgeting, and credit analysis, he also oversaw human resources, information systems, corporate governance, and strategic planning. He has also had various senior executive roles in companies in diverse sectors including real estate development, commercial and residential lending, banking, and venture lending.
Zagunis earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and a master’s degree in business administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
He has always enjoyed coaching (starting back in school and even coaching his college soccer team after graduating), teaching, and training. He is driven to help support and develop people, teams, and companies to meet and exceed goals and overcome challenges.
Zagunis currently works with various nonprofit and for-profit organizations in the United States and Africa, serving as an advisory member or director for some of these firms. In addition to working as a consultant and coach with Stanford Seed, he volunteers as a consultant with Stanford ACT (Alumni Consulting Team). He has two sons and enjoys traveling around the world with his wife.
