A Letter from Michelle Clayman, MBA ’79

Dear GSB Women’s Circles members,

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of GSB Women’s Circles, we reflect on the incredible growth and impact this program has had on our alumni community. With this in mind, I invite you to join me in participating in the first GSB Women’s Circles fundraising campaign by giving directly to the program that gives so much to each of us.

Forty-five years ago, when I graduated from the GSB, there were no GSB Women’s Circles. Now, ten years after its inception, GSB Women’s Circles has exceeded all expectations. Since launching in 2013, GSB Women’s Circles has provided a safe and supportive space for nearly 2,000 (1 in 4) GSB alumni to connect, inspire, and navigate life’s ups and downs. With over 170 Circles spanning the globe, we have built a vibrant community that extends far beyond geographic boundaries.

My affiliation with GSB Women’s Circles—as a co-founder, Circle member, and one of 400+ women volunteering their time each year to manage this program—has strengthened my belief in the power of women supporting one another. It is our mission to offer all GSB alumnae the support and community they need to thrive.

Over GSB Women’s Circles’ history, the GSB has provided both financial and organizational support to GSB Women’s Circles helping it become a much-valued, free resource for GSB alumni. However, as we continue to expand, there are opportunities to enhance the program that require financial support beyond what the GSB can offer. Funds raised by this campaign will complement GSB funding and directly benefit the GSB Women’s Circles program and its members worldwide. Your contribution will enable us to enhance our programming elements, expand our tools and resources, and facilitate further connections with members worldwide. This fundraising campaign is designed to coincide with our GSB Women’s Circles Summit in March, and will be a biennial event.

Over the last ten years, Circles has become a much-valued, free resource for GSB alumni; however, as we continue to expand, there are opportunities for further program enhancement that require financial support beyond what the GSB can offer. Your campaign contribution will enable us to enhance our programming elements, expand our tools and resources, and facilitate further connections with members worldwide.

Today, by making a gift to GSB Women’s Circles, I’m hoping to ensure that GSB alumnae will continue to receive the connection and support they need to thrive in all areas of their lives. I encourage you also to show your commitment to GSB Women’s Circles by making a donation that will help shape our program’s future.

I am getting the ball rolling with my own gift of $150,000 in matching funds – making your gift even more valuable. Through December 31st, all gifts to GSB Women’s Circles up to $1,000 will be matched 50%, and gifts of $1,000+ will be matched 100%. Every dollar we receive, big or small, matters and is greatly appreciated. And if we can hit 100% participation, we will collectively underscore the program’s importance and ensure its longevity.

Additionally, options are available to spread the payment of contributions over a period of time.

How to Make a Gift to GSB Women’s Circles

To make a one-time gift online or an installment gift, go to the Make a Gift or Pledge Page and follow these instructions:

  1. Select “Make a one-time gift” or “Make a recurring gift”
  2. Under “Direct your gift,” select: “Graduate School of Business” from the dropdown list in the first field, and “Other Stanford Designation” from the dropdown list in the second field
  3. Under “Other,” write in “GSB Women’s Circles”
  4. Complete the form and fill out the payment information to make your gift

To make a gift by mail, send a check and:

  1. Put “GSB Women’s Circles” on the check memo line
  2. Make checks payable to Stanford University
