Excellence in Leadership Award

Stanford Graduate School of Business is delighted to honor O. Andreas Halvorsen, MBA ’90, with the 2025 Excellence in Leadership Award. A program to honor Halvorsen will take place in June 2025 in New York City.

O. Andreas Halvorsen, MBA ’90
Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Viking Global Investors

O. Andreas Halvorsen is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Viking Global Investors. He is responsible for all firm-wide matters and oversees the firm’s investment activities, including capital allocation and risk management. His previous roles at Viking included Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager of the Financials portfolio. Prior to forming Viking in 1999, Halvorsen worked at Tiger Management Corporation, where he held several roles, and at Morgan Stanley.

Halvorsen received an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar and received the Alexander A. Robichek Award. Halvorsen also received a B.A. in Economics from Williams College and served as an officer in the Royal Norwegian Navy.

Halvorsen has served on the boards of many nonprofit organizations and is currently a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council and a trustee of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
