This award (formerly called the Silver Apple) is presented annually to a member of the GSB faculty for service to the school’s alumni. It is named for Dean emeritus Bob Jaedicke, who joined the GSB as a faculty member in 1961 and served as Acting Dean in 1979 and 1980, and as Dean from 1983 to 1990.
The 2018 Jaedicke Award has been presented to Matt Abrahams on October 5, 2018 during Alumni Weekend.
A lecturer in Organizational Behavior at the GSB, Matt Abrahams has published various academic articles on cognitive planning, persuasion and interpersonal communication as well as articles for GSB Insights. He recently published the third edition of his book Speaking Up Without Freaking Out, a book written to help people who which to become more confident and compelling communicators. Matt is also Co-Founder and Principal at Bold Echo Communications Solutions, a presentation and communication skills company based in Silicon Valley that helps people improve their presentation skills. Matt has worked with executives to help prepare and present keynote addresses and IPO road shows, conduct media interviews, and deliver TED talks.
Matt has helped alumni the world over hone their communication skills, leading chapter events from Austin to Vancouver. By participating in many reunion class programs, leading virtual faculty sessions, meeting with alumni leaders on campus and off, Matt makes himself available at every opportunity to help alumni strengthen their connection to the GSB and is ever a gracious faculty volunteer.
