Robert K. Jaedicke Faculty Award

This award (formerly called the Silver Apple) is presented annually to a member of the GSB faculty for service to the school’s alumni. It is named for Dean emeritus Bob Jaedicke, who joined the GSB as a faculty member in 1961 and served as Acting Dean in 1979 and 1980, and as Dean from 1983 to 1990.

2026 Honoree

The Thomas M. Siebel Professor of Business Leadership, Strategy, and Organizations

William P. Barnett has been a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business faculty since 1991. He is the Thomas M. Siebel Professor of Business Leadership, Strategy, and Organizations and is internationally recognized for his research on organizational strategy, adaptation, and competition. Over more than three decades at Stanford GSB, he has inspired generations of students while advancing scholarship that helps organizations navigate change in an increasingly complex world.

Professor Barnett’s current research focuses on how organizations are responding to the challenges of environmental sustainability. His work examines topics including climate technology innovation, environmental justice, climate migration, and rainforest conservation, with research sites spanning the globe. In addition to his work at Stanford GSB, he has twice been a fellow at Stanford’s Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences and is a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment.

Stanford GSB is proud to recognize Professor Barnett as the 2026 Faculty Honoree in celebration of his outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and the enduring impact he has made on generations of alumni.
