Getting Involved

With more than 60 clubs and organizations that reflect the diversity of our student body and its interests, the GSB community and culture are where all members invest in and empower one another. Students have the opportunity to lead identity groups as a way to share experiences, foster greater understanding, and build community across the school.

GSB Pride is a social and socially active organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students at Stanford GSB and those interested in increasing awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in business. The goals are to provide a community for LGBTQ+ students and allies to serve as a resource for our membership and the Stanford GSB community as a whole.

Every member of the queer community at the GSB comes from a different background, but across the board, everyone wants to use our education to create a positive impact in the world. It’s why I think I’ve found a home in GSB Pride, and something I hope I carry with me for the rest of my career.

I think we are so lucky to have a community here where there is this instant trove of shared histories, lived apart. Where some things are just understood, and you never need to feel self-conscious about the parts of you that you share. Our queer women come from all walks of life — military, data science, investing, consulting, tech — and yet we have this fundamental connection to each other. Queer women struggle with visibility and representation in most corporate spaces, and so to have a group of women who just get it is invaluable.

Feminism has opened the door for me to ask myself questions about my sexuality. Learning about gender and exploring how being a woman influenced me throughout my life, has given me the courage to explore my sexual identity and find what truly feels right and where I fully feel I am my authentic self. I’m proud of my journey, feel honored to be part of this community, and while there is still a lot of work to do towards equal rights to all people who are LGBTQ+, it’s amazing to see the increasing support in our fight from year to year.
