Frequently Asked Questions

If I am able to take my test online, should I?

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are accepting test scores for the official online versions of the GMAT, GRE and TOEFL until further notice. You should not feel compelled to take an in-person exam if it poses any risk to your health and safety. We recognize that online exams are not offered currently in every region or to every population. We will accept your score until its expiration date: online GMAT and GRE test scores are valid for five years from the date you take the test and online TOEFL scores are valid for two years.

Some or all of my university classes will be graded Pass/Fail. How will that impact my evaluation?

We recognize that these are unusual times, and many universities have modified their instructional formats and/or grading systems to accommodate COVID-19 circumstances. We know our applicants are active learners, and trust that you are learning both from your classes and from this experience. If you need to explain your new learning situation, please use the “Additional Information” section of your MBA application.

How will student visas be affected?

We recognize that these are unprecedented and uncertain times as the U.S. State Department has suspended routine visa services in most countries worldwide. We hope that visa services will resume again in the not-so-distant future, and we will support students through the visa process.

Can I visit the GSB campus to sit in on a class, take a tour, or attend an information session?

Unfortunately, all On-Campus Information Sessions, Class Visits, Stanford GSB Tours, and in-person Chats with Students have been canceled until further notice since our campus is now closed to visitors. We have online alternatives for Information Sessions, Campus Tours and Student Chats, and new online offerings will continue to be added. Please register to Stay in Touch with us to get the latest news about future events, including virtual opportunities. You can also visit MBA Admission events for up-to-date information about events.

When will GSB campus visits resume?

Due to the rapidly changing nature of this unprecedented situation, we do not know when campus visits will resume.

Does visiting Stanford or attending a Stanford MBA Admissions event affect my chances of admission?

No. While we encourage you to learn more about the Stanford MBA Program to get to know us, attending a Stanford MBA Admissions event, on- or off-campus, does not advantage or disadvantage your chances of admission in any way.

Will you still be holding worldwide information sessions in a city near me in the coming months?

Due to the rapidly changing nature of this unprecedented situation, we do not know when off-campus events will resume. However, we will be hosting a series of virtual events including regional panels in addition to information sessions, industry panels, diversity and women’s events, and small group chats with admissions officers, students and alumni.

How can I learn more about the MBA Program or MBA Admissions and Financial Aid online or virtually?

In addition to online alternatives for Information Sessions and Campus Tours, new online offerings will continue to be added – including regional and industry panels, diversity and women’s events, and small group chats with admissions officers, students and alumni. Check out videos on our YouTube channel to learn more about the Stanford MBA Program and MBA Admissions. You can also follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter, all @StanfordGSB.
