Returning to San Francisco after a year abroad in Valparaiso, Chile, Andrés Miramon befriends an ingénue and her father. Soon after, the destitute student becomes the daughter Astrid’s tutor, tour guide, and targeted beau. The father, Johann Schmidt, who is a Sellarebu Pharmaceuticals executive, works and lives in the Presidio. Tragic deaths start to befall the Schmidt household and there are hints of a secret plot. Efforts by the local police to investigate the crimes are constantly thwarted by the feds. A faction of Justice International finds itself pitted against an ex-Stasi mercenary hit team. Meanwhile, Andrés and Astrid stumble upon a conspiracy that has horrific worldwide implications. Who can they turn to? Who can they trust? What is the truth?
