Prior to Stanford, Thiago was the chief medical officer for HMTJ, an operator of health care facilities in Brazil. His role was to oversee operations and medical practices across eight hospitals and six emergency care units. In this capacity, he conducted several projects: implementing quality programs achieving ONA Accreditation Level 3 (highest level); restructuring the physicians’ compensation policy to be based on performance, which led emergency room doctors to increase their productivity by 30%; and the development of an internal continuing education program that trained more than 1,600 clinicians. These projects have helped HMTJ become one of the main players in health care services in Brazil. Prior to this position, Thiago was an anesthesiologist and a hospital director. He also served as a board member at Magnus Technologica.
