Foundation for a College Education (FCE) offers vital services and support starting in high school and continuing through college for first-generation, low-income students of color from East Palo Alto and similar communities. 100% of FCE’s high school seniors are admitted to a college or university, and 88% of college students obtain their Bachelor’s Degrees within six years or less. The challenge we are trying to address is increasing access for first-generation, low-income students of color into corporate executive positions. Our goal is to create opportunities for career exposure and access. For 13 years, FCE has managed the Meta Summer Academy. As Meta’s primary community partner, we manage the administration, soft skills curriculum, and community engagement of this program. We want to replicate this program at other Bay Area companies that want to expand their pipeline and opportunities for first-generation professionals in their neighboring communities. We want to create a plan to propose this idea to new corporate partners. FCE’s question: What pitch will effectively convince additional companies to join FCE’s successful summer intern program for high school students?

Date and Time for this Session: Tuesday, April 16 from 4-6pm Pacific
