Jewish Community Free Clinic
Organization
The Jewish Community Free Clinic (JCFC) offers free health care services to anyone in need, without regard to religion. The JCFC began in a one-room clubhouse once a week in 2001, and it has grown to a full-service healthcare clinic licensed by the state, in its own building donated by a generous donor. Services have expanded to include not only primary care but free labs, medications, school and work physicals, acupuncture, mental health services, and a wide array of other services often unavailable to the uninsured. Today, more than 100 volunteer doctors, nurses, other medical professionals, and students provide healthcare access to thousands each year who do not have access elsewhere.
Issue
How can this essential healthcare clinic develop a messaging campaign to increase awareness in the community that it provides free care to anyone without insurance or access, regardless of religion?
Situation
While everyone knows that Catholic Charities is not only for Catholic clients, it is not widely known that the Jewish Community Free Clinic is not only serving Jewish people. Clients generally know that you don’t have to be Jewish to get services, but people who have the resources to help the clinic do not for the most part know that the clinic serves everyone. To increase community support to keep the clinic’s safety net services operational and thriving, targeted messaging will be very helpful to the JCFC’s long term goals of taking care of those in need.
Project Overview
The JCFC would like an ACT project team to help develop a messaging campaign to increase awareness in the community that the JCFC provides free care to anyone without insurance or access, regardless of religion. The campaign will be directed to the business, ecumenical, and community stakeholders who could potentially support the JCFC with volunteers and financial resources. This would not be a fundraising project but a messaging project to ensure that everyone knows that the JCFC is for everyone in need of healthcare services, regardless of religion.
