The case follows Shai Agassi as he pursues a new business opportunity and eventually launches Better Place, a company focused on ridding the world’s dependence on oil by creating and maintaining electric vehicle recharge networks. It covers the idea discovery stage, researching and writing a business plan, pitching to auto manufacturers, and fundraising. The case then highlights some of the complexities involved in managing a new and growing “big idea” company. The case concludes with Agassi thinking about the company’s future.
