Robin Mohapatra acquired NCFDD, a for-profit online professional development company serving universities and their faculty members, through a search fund. Based in Detroit, Michigan, NCFDD was growing rapidly and the company’s founder was keen to return to academia.

The case centers around Mohapatra’s assembly of advisors and members of the Board of Directors following the acquisition. Students consider the knowledge, skills and qualities they are looking for in board members and advisors. The candidates Mohapatra is deciding between are presented and evaluated by students.
