Western Technology Investment

By John Glynn Jr., Alex Tauber
2006 | Case No. E217

This case is used in the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital class. Its purpose is to introduce students to the Venture Leasing or Lending Industry by: • Focusing on the history and operations of Western Technology Investment, one of the pioneers in this industry. • Contrasting this industry with the venture capital industry. • Focusing on an investment decision that Western Technology needs to make – an investment in Quinstreet. In the first half of the case, students are introduced to the industry as they learn about Western Technology. In the second part of the case, students must walk in the shoes of a venture lender by outlining a term sheet of a “live” investment decision that Western Technology needs to make in Quinstreet.
