Ernest C. Arbuckle Award

Stanford GSB honored Hamid Moghadam, MBA ’80, with the 2026 Ernest C. Arbuckle Award. A program to honor Hamid Moghadam will take place in May 2026 at Stanford University.

Hamid Moghadam, MBA ’80
Co-Founder, Executive Chairman, Prologis

Hamid Moghadam serves as executive chairman of the Prologis board, having co-founded the company and led it as chief executive officer for more than four decades before stepping down in January 2026. 

Moghadam co-founded the company’s predecessor, AMB Property Corporation, in 1983 and led it through its initial public offering in 1997 and its merger with Prologis in 2011. Under his leadership, Prologis grew into the global leader in logistics real estate and one of the top 100 companies in the S&P 500, serving thousands of customers with a 1.3 billion-square-foot real estate portfolio across 20 countries.

Moghadam currently serves on MIT’s Real Estate Advisory Committee, Stanford Graduate School of Business special committee, and is a member of the Business Roundtable. He previously served on Stanford University’s Board of Trustees and on the boards of Stanford Management Company (former chair), Stanford Health Care, the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has also served as a trustee and board member of the Urban Land Institute, chairman of NAREIT and on the boards of several other philanthropic, educational, and community organizations. 

In 2006, Moghadam received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and in 2013 representing the U.S., he was recognized as the Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year. Multiple leading business groups have honored him with lifetime achievement awards. This includes Institutional Investor ranking him Best CEO for several consecutive years, and Harvard Business Review, in its latest rankings, listing him as the No. 17 best-performing CEO globally.

He received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

About the Ernest C. Arbuckle Award

Presented annually by Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Ernest C. Arbuckle Award recognizes excellence in the field of management leadership.

The award was created in 1968 in honor of the late Stanford GSB dean whose name it bears. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to both managerial excellence and to addressing the changing needs of society.
