Organization

Ambition Angels is a tech-based nonprofit with a mission to equip Black and Brown teens with the skills, opportunities, support, and resources they need to thrive in college, career, and beyond. The Ambition app on mobile devices allows teens to choose from a comprehensive and diverse library of skill-building courses designed to equip them with the tools they need to excel both in their careers and personal lives. These courses cover a wide range of topics, ensuring that each teen can find the resources that best match their individual needs and goals. In 2023, Ambition Angels piloted V.1 of the app and reported an 82% life skills course completion rate and 96% course-to-course retention after delivering 20,000 lessons to over 1,500 kids across 36 states.

Issue

How can this tech-based nonprofit create and document a repeatable implementation plan to roll out their teen skill-building mobile device app to multiple cities?

Situation

The organization’s current goal is to pilot its first city-wide rollout in Oakland, California, led by a soon to be hired Oakland Area Director. The project, fully funded by a local Oakland foundation, will pilot the rollout process, and develop a repeatable process for major metropolitan cities across the country.

Project Overview

Ambition Angels would like an ACT project team to help create and document the Oakland rollout process and develop a repeatable implementation plan, including:

  • hiring of satellite office staff
  • partner and donor acquisition
  • student recruitment strategies
  • operational and fiscal relationship between satellite offices and the central support office
  • defining and measuring the metrics of success
