Note on India's IT Services Industry

By Lyn Denend, R. McKern
2005 | Case No. IB87

This note provides an overview of India’s IT services industry, using Michael’s Porter’s ‘Diamond of National Advantage’ framework. Specifically, it assesses how India uses its factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries, and the context for firm strategy, structure, and rivalry to achieve a competitive position in IT services. The note was developed as a companion to ‘The Competitive Advantage of India’ (GSB No. IB-58), which provides a more detailed analysis of India’s political, economic, and social history, as well as an evaluation of the country’s national competitiveness using the Porter framework.
