Jennifer Aaker
The General Atlantic Professor
To be able to take my research and my connections to help save lives — that was extremely gratifying.
Dr. Jennifer Aaker is the General Atlantic Professor at Stanford Graduate School of Business and a behavioral scientist whose work asks a fundamental question: What makes a life meaningful? Her research examines how meaning differs from happiness; how people use their time; and how humor, beauty, and human connection shape the lives we build. Her current work explores human flourishing and the unexpected experiences that lead to it.
Aaker has received the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award, the MBA Professor of the Year Award, and the Paul D. Converse Award. Her research appears in leading academic journals and has been featured in The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, and Science. She is the coauthor of Humor, Seriously and The Dragonfly Effect, books published in more than twenty languages.
She has served on public company and private organization boards, and currently serves on the Obama Foundation Advisory Board and the board of Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. She also counts winning a dance-off in the early 1980s among her greatest achievements.
